Part Two: Possible Capstone Ideas

I want my capstone project to be something that has meaningful applications in our current world. There are three possible capstone projects I might choose to do at the end of my study:

1. AI-based sign language translator: This application will have the ability to convert sign language gestures into text or speech for those who do not yet understand sign language. My intent with this is that I can help eliminate communication barriers.

2. AI crop disease detection: This application will allow people to take pictures of their plants, that do not appear to do well, and detect what the problem might be, then offer possible treatment. My inspiration for this is when I first started a hobby for gardening and I would come across various issues that required extensive research to find out if I am overwatering, my plant is deficient of certain nutrients, etc. On a larger scale, this could help farmers detect any issues and prevent crop loss,

3. AI-based irrigation system: This will be a focus on IoT, where I will put together different sensors and program them to detect the weather conditions in conjunction with current soil conditions. It will then adjust how much water should be used that will be optimal for the plants, while saving on water. This is important especially in California, where droughts are an issue.

Part Three: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal

The most interesting part of this week, and arguably this course so thus far, was using AI to help create a stakeholder analysis. Although the outline has already been done covering the stakeholder's stance on my issue of collecting personal data from users, we were able to give this information to AI to write this portion of our Ethical Argument paper. It is really fascinating how it was able to take very basic information and it was able to produce it in paragraph form in a well-put manner. My team also began to start the planning for our final video presentation but we can only do so much until the votes are in on what topic we will be presenting.
